How Sedation Dentistry Can Help With Dental Anxiety

Sedation dentistry is an excellent option for patients who are scared of the dentist, giving them the capability to have necessary dental work done, but without any pain or fear. During sedation dentistry, patients receive a sedative drug, such as tranquilizers, or anti nervousness drugs. These drugs are taken orally or delivered via an IV. Nearly all these drugs permit the patient to remain awake, but in a pain-free state, throughout their procedure.

Sedation dentistry is very safe when administered by seasoned professionals. At Dr. Mueller’s office, we are board certified and licensed to administer dental sedation. Depending upon the process or procedure you are having, sedation may last just a few minutes to a few hours. While sedation dentistry is extremely safe, there are several patients who should talk to Dr. Mueller to see if sedation dentistry is a great option for them. Some health conditions, including obstructive anti snoring and obesity, may cause complications from the anesthesia used throughout sedation.
